The Dangers of Suspicion and the Virtues of Good Expectations

In his Friday sermon, Sheikh Bandar Baleelah warned the congregation against the dangers of harboring ill-thinking and suspicion (*su' ad-dhann*) toward others, emphasizing its destructive impact on social cohesion. He quoted the Quranic verse urging believers to avoid negative assumptions and spy on one another, alongside the warning of the Prophet (ﷺ) that suspicion is the most untruthful of speech. The Imam highlighted that maintaining good expectations (*husn ad-dhann*) brings tranquility to the heart, peace to the mind, and fosters love within the community. He referenced the prophetic guidance where the Prophet (ﷺ) clarified his situation to companions to block Satan's whispers, demonstrating the importance of removing doubts. Finally, the Sheikh condemned the criminal actions of the Houthi militia targeting holy sanctuaries and civilian areas, affirming that such aggression violates the sacred boundaries established by Allah.
