The Means of Sustenance and Spiritual Keys to Provision

In his Friday sermon at Masjid al-Haram, Sheikh Dr. Usama bin Abdullah Khayyat spoke about sustenance (Rizq) as a divine gift from Allah, the ultimate Provider. He explained that while sustenance is preordained, Allah has established spiritual and practical means to attain and increase it. Chief among these means are fearing Allah (Taqwa), maintaining sincere trust in Him (Tawakkul) while actively seeking livelihood, and constantly seeking forgiveness (Istighfar). The Imam also highlighted the importance of supplication (Du'a), maintaining family ties (Silat al-Rahim), and spending in charity (Infaq) as keys to blessing one's wealth. He concluded by warning the congregation against pursuing forbidden (Haram) means, reminding them of the statement of the Prophet (ﷺ) that no soul shall die until it has fully received its decreed provision.
