The Essence of Neediness and Devotion to Allah (Al-Iftiqar)

Sheikh Saleh bin Abdullah al-Humaid
Masjid al-Haram, Makkah
June 19, 2026
Sheikh Saleh bin Abdullah al-Humaid welcomed the new Hijri year 1448, urging the congregation to reflect on the passage of time and prepare for the hereafter with sincere repentance. The core of his sermon focused on the concept of Al-Iftiqar ila Allah (complete dependence and neediness before Allah), describing it as one of the highest stations of servitude. He emphasized that true spiritual wealth and guidance are achieved when a servant recognizes their absolute weakness and turns to the Almighty for support. Quoting the Quranic verse, 'O mankind, you are those in need of Allah,' he explained how humility before the Creator elevates a person. Finally, he encouraged the believers to fast on the day of Ashura in the sacred month of Muharram to seek forgiveness for the past year's sins.
