Contentment and the True Richness of the Soul

Sheikh Bu'ayjan
Masjid an-Nabawi, Madinah
October 02, 2026
Sheikh Abdullah al-Bu'ayjan focused his sermon on the noble virtue of contentment and its role in achieving peace of mind in an era dominated by materialism. He reminded the congregation that Allah has wisely distributed provisions and lifespans, and that true happiness lies in being satisfied with His decree rather than coveting what others possess. The Imam warned against the modern pitfalls of social media, where displaying luxury, food, and travel can break the hearts of the less fortunate and breed discontent. He quoted the Prophet (ﷺ) who stated that true richness is the richness of the soul, and that success belongs to those who submit to Allah and are content with what is sufficient. Concluding his sermon, he clarified that contentment does not mean abandoning hard work or ambition, but rather striving diligently while maintaining a heart fully satisfied with Allah's distribution.
