The Path to True Happiness in Islam

Sheikh Bu'ayjan
Masjid an-Nabawi, Madinah
August 07, 2026
Sheikh Abdullah Al-Bu'ayjan focused his sermon on the concept of true happiness and how it can be genuinely attained in this life and the next. He explained that while happiness is a universal pursuit, many people mistakenly seek it in worldly pleasures, wealth, or desires, whereas its true source lies in faith (Iman) and righteous deeds. The Sheikh quoted Quranic verses promising a good life to those who believe and do good, contrasting this with the miserable, anxious existence of those who turn away from Allah's remembrance. He identified the key keys to happiness as establishing the regular prayers, constant remembrance of Allah, reciting the Quran, and contentedly accepting divine decree (Qada and Qadar). Additionally, he warned against modern distractions, such as the excessive use of smartphones and social media, which waste time, foster unhealthy social comparisons, and lead to psychological distress.
